12 Unique Ways to Make Money From Home

Making money from home is a great way to bring home the dough without ever needing to leave the comfort of your house.

With so many work-from-home type jobs these days, chances are you will be able to find something that is just right for you and your family. Making money from home does not need to be complicated or exhausting either.

That’s why I created a list of my favorite ideas to make money from home that are fairly easy to get started with today!

Write and Publish eBooks/Audiobooks

Writing ebooks and publishing them on Amazon Kindle is a great way to make some extra money online. There are many topics out there to write about and chances are, you have something unique to offer that people will want to read about!

And the best part? Once you have the book published, you will start earning passive income without having to trade any of your time to keep it going.

If you want to take this one step further, you can also create an audiobook to go with it and sell it through Audible as well!

There are people who make over $10,000 per month with their book on Amazon without having to put in a ton of time or effort after it’s been published!

Take Part in Naming Contests

This is a very unique way to make money online, but it is also a very fun way! Naming contests take place when a small or upcoming business pays contestants to come up with a name or slogan for their business.

If your name/slogan is chosen, you will be paid a large sum of money just for submitting your ideas!

Complete Online Surveys

Taking online surveys in your downtime is another great source of side income each month. I personally use surveys to make an extra $200-$300 per month to pay for groceries.

Some of these sites can be fun as you can earn money by playing games, watching videos, and testing out products!

Some of these sites pay more than others, so make sure you choose the highest paying survey sites to make the most money!

Create and Sell Online Courses

Creating and selling online courses is another great passive income source and can bring in quite a bit of extra money each month.

If you are an expert in a topic (ex. blogging, cooking, sewing, etc.), you can create a course teaching others how to do it. You can even charge a few hundred dollars per course depending on how much information you can provide!

And online courses are extremely popular right now! More and more people are investing in themselves and are trying to learn new skills online.

The absolute best recourses to get started with online courses are Teachable and Udemy.

Start a Blog

Starting a blog can be another great way to make money from home, however, it does take a few months to get started. Bloggers typically make money with affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, and ads.

A blog can be a great source of side income and can sometimes even replace a full-time income as well. Blogging can get overwhelming without any guidance so I recommend taking a few blogging courses to get started.

If you are not wanting to invest money in a blogging course just yet, you can start on your own for as low as 3.95 per month and a free domain name through Bluehost.

Start an eBay Store

Starting an eBay business is one of the ways I have personally made money from home each month. I average about $1,500 per month on eBay while only working on it 5-10 hours per week.

You can start small and sell the items around your home that you don’t use anymore, which would not require you to leave the house at all.

Then, you can work your way up to make even more money by sourcing for items at garage sales and thrift stores and then flipping them for a profit. You would need to search for products to buy at a low cost and sell them at a higher price.

Invest your Money

Another way to make money from home is to start investing! Doing this with minimal risk will not bring in a ton of money each month, but it is a great way to make money for the future.

Types of investments you can start making with little money:

High Yield Savings Accounts
US Treasury Programs
Mutual Funds/EFTs
Retirement Accounts (401k and Roth IRA)
And many more!

Investing can seem scary at first (trust me, I know!), but there are many ways to invest with little money to start out with, and little risk involved!

Teach English Online

Teaching English online to children with VIP Kid can be a really great source of income. This is a one-on-one teaching experience that allows you to teach one kid at a time.

This side hustle does not require you to have a teaching degree, but you will need some sort of 4-year degree to get started.

And once you sign up, you are able to make money from home and work whenever you want. You can even make up to $21 per hour!

Apply for Online Focus Groups

A focus group is a market research company that seeks individuals within different age groups, gender groups, etc. to help them conduct online and in-person studies on different topics. Most focus groups are in person, but there are websites that offer virtual focus groups as well!

I have personally made up to $500 per month before with focus groups and it takes very little time applying for each one. They are also a fun way to give your opinion and meet new people!

Respondent is the best online focus group website and all of their focus groups are conducted virtually. This ensures that you never have to leave your house to complete these focus groups.

There are new focus groups posted each day that you can apply to. Once you are chosen for one of them, you will be set up with a set time to meet with the person conducting the survey. After you give your opinions and complete the focus group, you will be paid almost right away in cash!

Freelance on Fiverr

If you have a skill to teach, you can advertise those skills on websites like Fiverr and can get paid per hour! Some ideas include:

You will need to start small at first and work your way up. But once you have a solid client list, you can start charging much more for your services. Some people are earning 6-figures and more by doing this!

Download and Use Cashback Apps

Using cashback apps while shopping is one of the easiest ways to earn back some money on your purchases. I use cashback sites every time I shop online and I have made a ton of money back for shopping I was going to do anyway!

Some of the best cashback sites are:

Rakuten – Rakuten is probably the most well-known cashback sites out there. I have been using them for years to get cashback on most of my online purchases. They even have a Chrome extension that will notify you when you are on a website that offers cashback.

Plus, you can get $10 just for signing up!

Ibotta – I love Ibotta because you can earn cashback from online AND in-store purchases and you can choose to be paid in cash or with gift cards.

You can even receive $20 in welcome bonuses when you sign up!

Swagbucks – Swagbucks is mainly a survey site, but they also offer cashback for shopping online as well.

Transcription

Being a transcriptionist is a great way to make money online. Some transcription websites pay up to $25 per hour!

The best part about transcription websites is that some of them allow you to sign up and get started right away without having to apply for a position or go through an interview process. You will need to create an account, take a short typing test, and then get started!
